Vote For Jansel Fuentes Jimenez

My Bio

I am running for the Plainfield Board of Education because I believe every child deserves access to a high-quality education, every parent deserves a voice, and every taxpayer deserves transparency and accountability.

As a proud graduate of Plainfield Public Schools, a former Student Board Commissioner, and someone who has represented thousands of students, I have seen both the strengths of our district and the challenges we must overcome. Those experiences inspired me to continue serving—not from the sidelines, but at the decision-making table.

My campaign is built on a simple mission: bringing the Board of Education back to the people. I believe the Board should be open, transparent, and responsive to the families it serves. Parents, teachers, students, and community members deserve to be heard and treated as partners in shaping the future of our schools.

I am committed to restoring trust through responsible leadership, fiscal accountability, and honest communication. Every dollar should be spent wisely and with students' success as the top priority. Our schools should prepare every student for college, careers, military service, and life, while providing safe learning environments and opportunities for all.

As the youngest candidate in this race and the only Puerto Rican candidate, I bring a fresh perspective, new energy, and a deep commitment to ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed. I understand the challenges many of our families face because I have lived them, and I believe that leadership means listening, collaborating, and putting students first.

This election is about more than filling a seat—it is about restoring confidence in our school district and building One Board. One Future. Together, we can create a stronger, more united Plainfield where every decision is made with our children at the center.

My Key Issues

The Plainfield Public Transparency and Parent Engagement Policy

If elected, I will introduce a policy that makes the Plainfield Board of Education more transparent, accessible, and accountable to the community.

The policy would include:

  1. Monthly Community Town Halls in different neighborhoods, giving parents, students, teachers, and residents an opportunity to ask questions and provide input before major Board decisions.
  2. Plain-Language Budget Reports that explain how taxpayer dollars are being spent in a way that is easy for everyone to understand.
  3. Public Progress Dashboards tracking district goals, student achievement, school improvements, and the status of major initiatives.
  4. Expanded Public Participation by making it easier for residents to speak at Board meetings and submit comments online.
  5. Student and Parent Advisory Councils that meet regularly with Board members to ensure community voices help shape district policies.
